The Leveller Julia Durango Books
First off, Yeessss a nerdy gamer type book.Ok now that I've geeked out for s second let's get down to the review.
This to me was the more kiddish/YA version of Ready Player One, it's s virtual reality world were our main character gets paid to get people out of the game. She gets a job from the guy who basically invented it to level his son out. Now if your like me I thought leveling meant "hey I'm gonna go quest and gear up" but in this one it actually stands for getting someone out of the game, so that was a bit confusing for me to comprehend, or more like my geeky brain just didn't want to accept the new term for leveling. But meh it's just a word right? The world build was super fun, I mean who wouldn't want to create their own world and be whatever they wanted inside a game. I love creating new avatars in games, generally if it's possible I tend to have it looking almost exactly like myself but whatever. So I connect pretty well with our lead since she like me doesn't do fakery. The storyline was quick, actiony, humorous (mildly childish humor though) and really cool to read. It ends with quite a few loose ends but enough of a ending where your not totally just sitting on our couch going wtf was that. So I'll definitely check into the sequel to so the next adventure. Till then "For the Wyn!"
Solid 3.75-4 stars. Reread able. And recommendable if your looking for a gamer style book.

The Leveller Julia Durango Books Reviews
I really enjoy reading this book. The ending left me asking questions but other than that I enjoyed the story of a virtual reality especially as a gamer I can relate to so much.
Intense. I was wanting more the second I started reading.
this was a really good book. honestly I tried more than ten times to get past chapter 3, the start was really slow but once she entered the maze I was hooked. worth it.
Good read
Could not put it down. I'm up way past my bedtime just to see how things turn out. Very funny and imaginative writing, with a lot of character depth. Well done!!
Oh man, if I wasn't skeptical about virtual reality already I am now.
I couldn't put this book down once I got going. It took until about chapter five to hook me, but then I was a goner.
Nixy is tough, we think, until she realizes that she hasn't had a real reason to be afraid yet. Once she's in the MEEP with Wyn, things get pretty intense. Some of the creations in the game were super creepy - skeletons, zombies, that kind of stuff - and to be stuck in there with no way out just sounds stressful. I couldn't wait to see how she'd escape, IF she'd escape.
I liked Wyn a lot too. He seemed just really genuine once he realized Nixy was there to help. Both good characters!
An amusing, light read. There was a fun sense of humor throughout, with some clever lines (and some pretty corny). Good action, although sometimes the characters seemed less like characters and more like flat game avatars when they were in the game. Good conflict of being stuck in the game. The novel didn’t really feel as dangerous as it probably could have, maybe because they couldn’t really “die” in the game—they just went back to a saved checkpoint or materialize somewhere else, all whole again. This almost felt like a middle grade novel in a lot of respects. At 245 pages, it felt really short (especially when I’d just finished a 460-word novel, lol).
