It is nice to see that there are still some decent chapter books out there for the holidays that are intended for a younger audience. I liked this book a lot. I read it to my kids in a couple of sittings and they really enjoyed it. This is one of those books where you can't help but love the main character as she is so goofy and clumsy and wants so much to get away from that image. The Christmas themes in this book are truly "Christmasy" with elves and Santa and all the traditional hallmarks of an excellent holiday story. Besides, there is candy fruit that grows in a garden, how can you not love candy fruit??Humor and laughter decorate the pages of this story from beginning to end. I Immediately fell headfirst into this tale and forgot about everything else as I hoped for the best for Kat and felt for her when things didn't go her way.
This book is appropriate for children of all ages (even us adults.) I even had fun while reading it. The author does a wonderful job of giving us a main character we care about, a fun story to navigate and an ending that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside. I loved this book and my children did too. So adorable!

This was perfect for me & my 5th grader. It’s still cute and short enough to be read aloud (over many days) but also adventurous enough that she was thrilled to read it herself when we were finished.

Oh dear, Mre Claus may have to close her School of Christmas Spirit due to the lack of funds ! And Santa has ordered a wrong ingredient for the candy shop ! Not only that, it seems that Santa has not been paying the bills for the North Pole ! ! My, oh, my what is going on here?
I thought this was a cute story that many children will enjoy the younger ones to read to; and the older ones to read for themselves.
Dear all who are considering buying this book,
What a wonderful gift for any age as the Holidays approach! Read a little bit of Novel Nibble and you will be hooked on Ms. Munsterer and understand why this is such a lovable author and set of characters. You know these people all around you but no one has described them so accurately with such a sense of humor! Bravo to Miss Munsterer for bringing so much joy to all of us!
It really doesn't matter to me that this book is written for children...I'm still a kid at heart and I simply loved it. This is an excellent story with some good life lessons as well as a real Christmas theme, and I can't imagine anyone (with the exception of Scrooge, perhaps) not loving it. Very well written and edited, there is little to detract from your experience--so snap this one up and get into the joy of the season. 4 and 3/4 stars from me.
This is a great little Christmas story! I love the lessons taught at the School of Christmas Spirit and the exciting twists and turns the story takes. It would be fun to see this story portrayed on screen along with the other Christmas classics.
The book provides a perfect opportunity for parents to discuss certain concepts/topics with their children. I also like the "activities for families" suggested at the end of the book.
This story is 105 pages long so it might be difficult for small children with short attention spans to follow. Some of the content may be better suited for older children (i.e, older than pre-school)
A great Christmas story with an underlying message of the specialness of every child. Includes Christmas activities for families to build the values and virtues Kat learns during her time at the North Pole and a recipe for tasty Candyfruit Confection (an every morning delight at The School of Christmas Spirit). It is too bad, Mr. Mudge and Principal Pratt either didn’t get selected for Mrs. Claus’ school, or they forgot what they learned. Well written and will appeal to late elementary school students.

Reasons why I'm buying this book for my dearest fellow 40-something-old friends who share Kat McGee's heroic heart even if they don't know it
1)It's about a girl who feels invisible, sidelined, forever an audience-member, never onstage.
2)Kat McGee wonders if her destiny in life is being the only average person in her famously everyone-is-amazing-at-something family.
3)Splendid, funny details/characters pineapple-print nightgowns, an Elf Concierge, photo booths that predict the future, cookies that taste like "mosquito wings."
4)Tenet of Whimsy, per Mrs. Claus "Whimsy is what happens when you allow yourself to be the person you are naturally."
5)Illustrations. Illustrations. Illustrations.
